Tribal Tattoo Designs
A tribal tattoo originally was a marking to show which tribe you belonged to, and what your role was within the tribe. Tribal tattoos indicated your marriage status, your importance and your family. Sometimes only men received certain tattoo designs within a tribe, other tribes had different tribal tattoos for men and women.
Today we take tattoo designs from many different tribal origins; African, Pacific, Hawaiian etc. Tribal cultures traditionally cut tattoos into the skin of a tribe member, then rub the area with ink, ashes or other pigments. Nowadays, modern electric tattoo machines are used. These insert ink under the skin via a group of needles.
